At The Moxie Health Group, we often talk about impact in terms of patient outcomes, innovation, and growth. But lately, our team has been celebrating a different kind of milestone — love. Recently, a wave of engagements among team members has earned a lighthearted nickname: “The Moxie Effect,” a phrase that captures a very real truth: when people feel supported, inspired, and grounded in purpose, meaningful connections flourish.

We’re honored to share a few of these stories and celebrate the couples who remind us that behind every great organization is a community of people building lives, futures, and families together.

Nestor Banegas, Chief Global Operations Officer & Daniela Flores, Census Coordinator

Nestor and Daniela’s story began during their internship year, when a last-minute schedule change placed them on the same night shift. What could have been an ordinary day became unforgettable. Even behind masks and surgical caps, they noticed each other instantly. A quiet confidence, a calm presence, a sense of familiarity that needed no introduction.

Their relationship grew steadily from that first shift in September 2021, and in December 2025, Nestor proposed during a surprise trip to New York City, high above the skyline at Rockefeller Center. For them, The Moxie Health Group has been more than a workplace. It has been part of their foundation. As they shared, the culture of trust, humility, and purpose helped them grow not only professionally, but also as partners building a life together.

“Life has a beautiful way of surprising you at the most unexpected moment,” Nestor said. “Inviting you to take risks and build something lasting together.”

Marcelo Ortega, Billing Project Manager & Diane Yanes, Call Center

Marcelo and Diane first met nine years ago at their very first job, forming an immediate friendship that eventually evolved into something more when their paths crossed again. After reconnecting, they realized their conversations never seemed to end, a sign that their story was just beginning.

On December 1, 2025, during a visit to a church in Curitiba that held special meaning for them, Marcelo proposed in a quiet chapel after they prayed together. He later shared that he wanted their marriage to begin with faith at its center.

While The Moxie Health Group wasn’t their matchmaker, it became the backdrop for their growth. The stability, opportunity, and encouragement they found here helped them build a strong foundation for their future, and the excitement of colleagues celebrating alongside them made the moment even more meaningful.

“True growth isn’t just about professional success, but about building a life rooted in God with people who support and inspire you,” Marcelo said.

Gian Franco, Project Manager & Victoria Paredes, Quality Assurance

Gian and Victoria’s journey began in medical school in 2016, where coffee breaks, textbooks, and shared ambitions gradually brought them closer. Years later, surrounded by nature during a sunset walk in a national park, Gian asked Victoria to marry him, and she said yes.

Both describe their time at The Moxie Health Group as an opportunity to grow personally and professionally while collaborating with kind, inspiring colleagues. Though their plans were already underway, the supportive environment they found here helped make this new chapter easier to bring to life.

“From shared goals in medicine to a shared future, we are deeply grateful to God for bringing us together and sustaining our journey,” Gian said.

Alfonso Ortega, Chief Technical Officer & Hellen

A couple smiles on a boat at sea, woman shows engagement ring, wind in hair, wearing casual attire, joyful mood at sunset.

Alfonso and Hellen first met in 2023 at a hospital in Honduras, where he was a medical intern and she was a third-year medical student. After losing touch, they unexpectedly reconnected years later through Instagram with a simple message that reopened the door to something meaningful.

Their engagement was the highlight of a journey across Europe. After carrying the ring through multiple cities, Alfonso chose a sunset boat ride along the Mediterranean coast in Barcelona to propose.

He credits The Moxie Health Group as a catalyst in their story, helping align his professional growth with his personal life. The stability and opportunity he found here made it possible for them to build a home together and plan their future with confidence.

“Our story is a collection of unlikely moments.” Alfonso said. “Today, we finally have the stability to build a home and a future together.”

More Than a Workplace

Each of these stories is unique, yet they share a common thread: community. Whether The Moxie Health Group played a direct role in bringing two people together or provided the stability and encouragement that helped them move forward, these engagements reflect something we value deeply — supporting the whole person, not just the professional.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Nestor and Daniela, Marcelo and Diane, Gian and Victoria, and Alfonso and Hellen. Your journeys remind us that success is measured not only in achievements, but also in the lives we build and the people we share them with.
