The Moxie Health Group LLC is a post-acute care group dedicated to offering interdisciplinary care to patients.
We focus on helping individuals regain their functional abilities, enhance their quality of life, and smoothly transition back to their home or community.
A core aspect of our program is reducing hospital readmissions, responsible stewardship and optimizing patient care within the facilities. Additionally, we prioritize ongoing education for SNF staff and providers, ensuring continuous adherence to protocols and high-quality care.
Meet Our Team!
Dr. Gustavo Ferrer is a globally recognized pulmonary and critical care physician, entrepreneur, and educator with medical training in Cuba and the United States.
He completed advanced education at Texas Tech University and George Washington University and went on to become one of the youngest clinical professors of medicine at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he helped establish major pulmonary fellowship programs.
He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, holds multiple patents in medical devices and pharmaceuticals, and is the award-winning author of Graceful Exit and Cough Cures. Dr. Ferrer is a frequent medical expert on CNN, Univision, Telemundo, and Fox News and was recently recognized with the PharmaPack Paris 2024 Award.

Dr. Nestor Banegas
Chief Global Operations Officer
Nestor Banegas is the Chief Operating Officer at The Moxie Health Group. He is a medical doctor with clinical training in emergency medicine and a background spanning international healthcare systems. Over the past three years, he has developed expertise within the U.S. healthcare landscape, focusing on medical
back-office operations and care coordination.
As Director of Global Operations at Moxie Health Group, Dr. Banegas leads cross-functional teams and directs the implementation of streamlined workflows that enhance patient care delivery and operational efficiency across the organization’s care management services.
He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Hospital Management, further advancing his proficiency in healthcare administration. This academic foundation strengthens his ability to align clinical insight with strategic operations in today’s complex healthcare environments.
Dr. Alfonso Ortega
Chief Technology Officer
Alfonso Ortega, Chief Technology Officer at MoxieLink, brings both clinical and operational expertise to the role. Trained as a Medical Doctor and licensed in the UK, he later spent three years in the U.S. healthcare system, gaining deep knowledge of medical operations and care coordination.
This dual perspective shapes MoxieLink’s product philosophy, ensuring technology is designed for real-world challenges in Skilled Nursing Facilities.
Under his leadership, the platform delivers intuitive tools that streamline operations, support staff, and improve patient care.
Viviane Manara, RN, MHCM
CCIO- Chief Clinical Integration Officer
Viviane Manara leads efforts to bridge clinical care with strategic operations in post-acute and value based care programs. A passionate healthcare leader, Viviane brings a strong foundation in nursing and clinical integration in her role.
She began her career as a Registered Nurse after graduating in Brazil and later earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration in the United States in 2020. With extensive experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams, Viviane is committed to improving patient outcomes while driving operational excellence.
Her work focuses on unifying specialities and care settings to deliver efficient, high-quality care throughout the Moxie network.

Jessica Orona, MSN, APRN, ACNPC-AG, CCRN
Vice President of Clinical Operations
Jessica Orona is a seasoned healthcare executive and clinician with over 25 years of experience in acute care, pulmonary medicine, and clinical education. A Texas native, she began her nursing career in 1999 and quickly gained recognition for her leadership and dedication to patient-centered care.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science in Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – Adult Gerontology (ACNPC-AG). Her background includes ICU management, critical care education, and years of experience as a pulmonary and critical care nurse practitioner in a Level II trauma center.
As Vice President of Clinical Operations, Jessica oversees provider support and clinical alignment across districts, guiding leaders to ensure consistency, compliance, and collaboration in care delivery.
Laura Fernandez
Vice President of Clinical Coordination & Quality Outcomes
Laura Fernandez oversees clinical coordination across multiple districts, supporting the VP of Clinical Operations, District Directors, Nurse Practitioners to maintain consistent standards of patient care in nursing home settings.
With more than 10 years of experience in the medical field, Laura brings deep expertise in skilled nursing facility (SNF) operations, having previously served as a Director of Nursing. In that role, she was responsible for the full scope of nursing services, managing the daily functions and clinical performance of all units within the facility.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University and is passionate about clinical excellence, staff development, and improving patient outcomes in long-term care.

Amanda Ferrer, MS
Director of Marketing
Amanda Ferrer leads strategic communications, brand development, and digital engagement across the company’s healthcare divisions. With over 5 years of experience in marketing, she brings a creative, results-driven approach to building brand awareness and fostering meaningful connections with patients, partners, and providers.
Before joining Moxie, Amanda was part of the concert marketing team for the Florida Panthers, playing a key role in live event marketing during the team’s historic 2024 Stanley Cup Championship season.
Her background spans both corporate and entertainment marketing, giving her a unique lens on audience engagement and campaign innovation.
Amanda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Nova Southeastern University and a Master’s degree in Media Management from the University of Miami.

Lauren Ruiz
Administrative Manager
Lauren Ruiz is the Administrative Assistant at The Moxie Health Group, where she plays a key role in supporting daily operations across the organization. With over two years of experience in the healthcare industry, Lauren brings a strong foundation in administrative coordination and patient support.
She assists with scheduling, internal communications, and ensures everyone receives timely, organized, and attentive service.
Currently completing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Lauren continues to grow her expertise in healthcare administration and office management. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence make her a valuable part of the Moxie Health team.
Dr. Jason Chertoff, MD
Medical Team, Ohio
Jason Chertoff, M.D., M.P.H. is a physician board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies as a Biology major from Tufts University in 2000, received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2004, and obtained a Masters in Public Health from Columbia University in 2010.
Dr. Chertoff’s professional interests include management of sepsis and septic shock, ARDS, interstitial lung disease, asthma, bronchiectasis, and other lung-related pathologies. When he’s not working, Dr. Chertoff enjoys spending time with his wife and twin 8-year-old children.
