‘Engage - Educate - Connect’ Events: How Moxie Is Investing in Its Providers

Moxie Health Group’s advanced practice providers spend their days caring for patients across the facilities Moxie serves. And now, a new educational tour is bringing them together to learn, connect and share their experiences.

“Engage – Educate – Connect,” an initiative created by Moxie’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, Jessica Orona, MSN, APRN, ACNPC-AG, CCRN, is a new educational tour designed to bring Moxie’s advanced practice providers together for hands-on clinical education and conversations with leadership. The events also create opportunities for providers to connect with and learn from one another.
“Since stepping into this role last year, one of my priorities has been improving and maintaining provider morale,” Orona says. “Our providers are the face, words and actions of Moxie within our facilities.”
As Moxie continues to grow, she wanted providers to understand the company’s larger vision while also feeling valued, supported and prepared to deliver the best possible care.
That became the foundation for three simple words: Engage, educate, and connect.
‘Engage - Educate - Connect’
During the recent “Engage - Educate - Connect” Florida Stop in September, providers practiced clinical skills and procedures, including point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Rather than simply hearing about techniques in a meeting or presentation, participants had the opportunity to work with the equipment and build confidence using it.
“Hands-on experience builds confidence,” Orona says. “Then you take those skills right back to your patients.”

Providers who attended echoed that sentiment.
“I feel more confident to do it now,” provider Arlene Beckford, NP, said after the training.
Theresa Wayer, NP, said the event helped her become more comfortable with procedures while also giving her an opportunity to connect with other Moxie providers. Another attendee said she appreciated the opportunity for hands-on learning.
"It was definitely a good experience and worth the drive to feel more comfortable using the POCUS equipment. I think the more and more we use the equipment the more comfortable we will get ..." RonDanielle Williams said.
'A more inclusive, team-centered environment’
The events intentionally include opportunities for providers to spend time with Moxie leadership and each other, whether over dinner, coffee or pastries. In a healthcare environment where providers may spend much of their time working within individual facilities, those face-to-face relationships help create a stronger sense of belonging to a larger team.
“The goal is to strengthen relationships and create a more inclusive, team-centered environment where our providers feel that they are truly part of Moxie,” Orona says.
For Orona, the philosophy behind the program is straightforward: supporting providers ultimately supports patients.
“Engaged providers who feel appreciated, supported, educated and connected are better positioned to represent Moxie and provide excellent care to our patients and facility partners,” she says.
And with the Florida events now wrapping up, “Engage – Educate – Connect” is continuing on to other Moxie regions.
“It is not just a clinical training event,” Orona says. “It is an investment in our people, our culture and the quality of care we deliver.”
